Meet The Candidates For California Governor
Details
Hello and welcome, California voters, and all of you as-though-you-were-and-wished-to-be California voters. You’re invited to a live zoom presentation by some of the leading gubernatorial candidates: Matt, Tom, Katie, Steve, Xavier, and maybe, the other Tom. This SF Debate Club has some pull, and we like to show it off!
Well, I need to step back a little. Just to be clear and honest, because that is the kind of organization we are, I have learned that one of the candidates might not show, and because our club values full disclosure, I need to share that point of information. And, I guess, to that point, just thinking about it a little more, I probably should rephrase myself further, in keeping with the honesty thing; there is a really good chance that more than one of the candidates will not show, so it is not really fair of me to pretend otherwise. If you ever watched “Get Smart”, you know what’s coming. You got it. No real candidates are going to show.
But we do have some great understudies. And they are all going to show. Honestly.
Here is the format of the debate on Monday:
- Each “candidate” has three minutes to state their positions at the start of the meeting.
- Then, the floor is opened to our traditional floor debate, where people in turn make arguments and ask questions of the candidates in a moderated environment.
- At the end of the meeting, we have an “election” to determine who the crowd sees as the next governor.
So, please come on down to your local zoom portal to do some early voting.
And here are resources for your own research:
See you Monday the 18th!
