SFDUG: DrupalCon Portland 2024 Retrospective - Introducing Starshot (In-person!)

Join the San Francisco Drupal User Group (SFDUG) to network, co-work and socialize with fellow Drupal users.

This is an IN-PERSON~event! The first since March 12, 2020, but not the last. Let's get together and hang out!

Much of the meeting will be streamed as well, so if you can't make it be sure to RSVP to the event and we will email a ZOOM link the afternoon of the event.

6:00 - 7:00 pm: DrupalCon 2024 Retrospective

Last week a lot of us went up the coast to beautiful and uncharacteristically sunny Porland Oregon for the annual North America DrupalCon gathering. As always, it was entertaining and informative, but this time there was a surprising waiting for us. Tuesday morning, at his signature Driesnote keynote speech, Drupal founder Dries Buytaert announced an aggressive new initiative to make Drupal accessible to a wider audience. Referencing JFK's ambitious promise to land people on the moon, the initiative is called "Starshot."

Luke McCormick (cellear on drupal.org) has been an active member of the Drupal community since 2010. He worked for the Drupal Association putting on DrupalCon San Francisco, helps with Backdrop CMS project, has helped organize BadCamp since 2013, and serves of several Drupal committees, including the DrupalCon marketing committee, the Drupal 7 Soft Landing Initiative, the Drupalisms Project. We are changing the SFDUG monthly meetups to the third Thursday of each month with this and all subsequent meetups. We have been meeting on the second Thursday of each month. The time will remain the same (5:30-7:00 pm PT).
