In the fall, the EdSurge Higher Ed team took a deep dive into how digital learning has the potential to help students succeed- but how about after graduation, mid-career and beyond?

Opportunity gaps are closing as OER (Open Education Resources), digital courseware, online communities, and all forms of digital learning are being offered for students. In addition, digital learners can benefit in launching or skilling up in their careers long after the (digital) classroom.

Join us for an evening exploring how digital resources and new online networking models are shaping career exploration and success. Listen to a series of short “lightning” talks from leading educators, researchers and entrepreneurs in the field. After the talks you’ll have the opportunity to join small group conversations with your fellow attendees and speakers.

Gabrielle Santa-Donato, Life Design Lab at Stanford University Because people now have upwards of three completely different careers and then an encore career, and current college graduates will have 17 jobs, there is an ever-pressing need to design our ways forward. I teach folks to design their lives -- from high schoolers, to my can't-quite-yet-retire Dad. Though design thinking (especially when applied to one's life) is often a very hands-on experience, I'm curious to see what resources from our work could be made and shared digitally. Reilly Davis, Co-Founder PeopleGrove Mentorship and advising relationships are shown to improve student success and career outcomes. Today's learners long to supplement their learning with real-world advisers and experts, helping to bridge the gap between college and careers. Discover how PeopleGrove has partnered with universities such as UMUC to provide students and alumni with personalized career connections and mentoring opportunities at scale, ultimately enhancing career outcomes and driving student success. Greg Bybee, VP NovoEd There has been an explosion of online resources for personal development. Until recently, though, they were focused mostly on technical skills and university-led liberal arts lectures. But jobs in the new economy are requiring soft skills more, such as leadership or the 4Cs (creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking). Learn how NovoEd is working with a number of innovative organizations to offer experiential online programs that develop critical “soft skills.” Case studies include Stanford GSB, Case Western Reserve, Columbia, Acumen, Presidio Institute, and IDEO U. David Good, Product Lead IDEO U David and the IDEO U team want to unleash creativity and design thinking in everyone, especially the people who don't think of themselves as "creative types." He will propose ways you can take your online (and offline) learning to the next level...and futureproof your career. Learn more here (https://www.edsurge.com/organizations/ideo-llc)

Sonia Kim, Instructional Designer Udemy In the the past 5 years, the digital learning landscape has exploded with countless options for students and instructors to learn new skills and share their expertise. Discover what Udemy has learning about the online instructor experience: why do instructors choose to teach online? How do they actually get started? And what do they learn from the course creation experience? Learn more here (https://www.edsurge.com/product-reviews/udemy).

The night will begin and end with drinks, snacks and networking. Hope to see you there!
