In the San Francisco metro area, an $82,000 annual salary is considered “low income” for a single adult. For a family of four, the number is $117,400. For many students, a career in the technology sector is a clear way they can score a livable wage in a high cost of living part of the country.

But students can’t get there alone. Education will play a big role for many students, particularly those who come from underrepresented backgrounds.
