Dungeness crab season was delayed this year, but it is finally upon us. Let’s visit the new home for the restaurant Crustacean and enjoy some crab, garlic noodles, and other seafood delights.

The new location for Crustacean is 195 Pine Street. The Polk Street location has closed.

Owned by the same family that owns Thanh Long, Crustacean offers Dungeness crab three ways at dinner time: whole, cracked but in the shell, or deshelled entirely. Garlic roasted, tamarind, and “drunken” varieties are offered. The Thanh Long specialities are listed on the “secret menu,” which is not so secretly printed at the bottom of the regular menu!

Crustacean’s menu also includes Vietnamese fusion offerings like shrimp toast, wagyu dumplings, and spicy butter chicken dumplings. They also have a cocktail/mocktail menu and extensive wine list. The dinner menu is here: https://www.crustaceansfpine.com/dinnermenu

SF Eater: Crustacean Cements FiDi as a Dining Neighborhood

Dress is casual chic. The atmosphere is more upscale than Thanh Long, and the dress code is enforced.

Costs
There will be a $25 deposit to hold your seat and to cover the no show fee that the restaurant charges. I will collect that once reservations open by Venmo, Zelle or Apple cash, and I will subtract it from your total at dinner. The deposit will not be refunded if you no show for dinner.

With a drink, and shared starters and mains, I expect costs to run about $100 per person.

Each diner’s orders will be calculated separately; however, shared items will be divided up amongst those who eat them. No separate checks. Please be prepared to split the check and pay via cash, Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay.

Taxes and Fees
Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%) and likely a mandate (5-6%). We will add a gratuity of 20%.

Parking and Transportation
About halfway between Montgomery and Embarcadero BART/Muni stations
Street parking is challenging, but there are lots of garages downtown
