Telltale Games is looking for an experienced engineer to serve as Technical Director for our internal studio technology groups to include Core Technology and Tools, Content and Gameplay, and Web/Online services.  You’ll maintain leadership over various programming teams and will define the technology direction on various projects.  The successful will also be responsible for overseeing console and PC game technology as well the integration of web and server side tech groups.




·        Develop the technology plan and oversee all programming development for the team.

·        Work with production staff and other leads to establish engineering tasks and subsequent schedule requirements across multiple disciplines of programming and technology. 

·        Manage the various programming teams to meet all established goals and requirements.

·        Determine implementation strategies for specific game/engine feature requirements, and assesses features for feasibility within schedule, resources and technical constraints.

·        Review and approve completed engineering tasks in collaboration with the production staff and other leads.

·        Ensure and establish coding standards and maintain efficient coding practices.

·        Evaluate and mentor all programmers.

·        Assists team members in setting priorities and milestone planning.

·        Provide critical analysis of technology and development practices with the goal of improving game quality, team efficiency, and fostering a positive work environment.

·        Serve as an active partner in driving the company's technological vision.

·        Perform research to acquire new knowledge necessary to complete assigned tasks and maintain the technological evolution of current, as well as future products.

·        Interface with the executive team and leads to ensure that all technology interests and policies are properly represented and maintained through the course of development, and that future technology is on track and in development for future products.

·        Collaborate with other technical leadership within the organization to ensure that team direction is in sync with the organizations goals, and that research and development is consistent to avoid redundancies.

·        Participates in the selection of programming staff and team leads.




·        Technical, managerial, and leadership skills at the lead software engineer, or technical director level.

·        C++ proficiency

·        Strong programming skills and a proven aptitude for technical design.

·        Ability to execute plans, meet commitments and be accountable.

·        Experience in the design and implementation of game systems, including online networking, AI, camera, rendering, UI, FX, game object management, and database management.

·        Must be comfortable working within (and adding to) an established code framework as well as building technology from the ground up.

·        3d math, physics, and/or rendering knowledge preferred.

·        Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

·        Bachelor's degree in computer science, or equivalent degree or experience.
