Talk #1 Custom Slack Integrations with Brenda Jin
Want to send notifications into Slack from your website or another service? Want to customize a service for your team only? In this presentation, Brenda Jin will show how you can use Incoming Web hooks and stateless middleware to set up custom notifications in minutes!
Brenda Jin (@cyberneticlove (https://twitter.com/cyberneticlove)) is a Senior Platform Engineer at Slack, where she launched the App Directory in 2015, dropped the files.list API method response time from 2000ms to 200ms, and has more recently worked on the App Submission and Review Flow as well as the Enterprise product. Before that, she helped launch both Tablet Optimized Experience and Responsive Checkout at Macys.com. She taught herself to code in 2013 and leads the San Francisco Chapter of Girl Develop It, a non-profit that has taught over 63,000 women web and software development skills since 2010.
Talk #2 Service with a Conversation with Don Goodman-Wilson
A conversational revolution is upon us. More and more services, from Lyft to Skype, are providing a conversational user interface, and using messaging apps as their distribution channels and runtime. Amir Shevat, Slack head of developer relations, will show you how to expose your service as a conversation, demo a few cool examples, and talk about the Slack platform and the Slack fund.
Don Goodman-Wilson is a Senior Developer Advocate on the Developer Relations team at Slack Technologies. He loves living in the interfaces between layers, whether it’s bridging languages, systems, or developers. Prior to hacking on Slack’s Platform, Don has worked with streaming media, embedded hardware, the model railroading industry, and academic philosophy. He enjoys statically typed languages and sailing, and lives with his wife and daughter in California.
