In the interest of honest feedback, I have to say I was disappointed in this particular event. The talks were too short to have any meaningful content beyond promoting their sponsors and the overall event (especially the "hackathon") felt like a sales pitch. I personally would never hire someone who put a "hacker certificate" from a HTML5 "nanosite" hackathon on their LinkedIn profile. That being said, this meetup group is normally spectacular and I'm excited for the next event!

Those hackathon prompts are asking for free work that could be used for a real business need for a very small prize ($50ish dollars), next time please consider making the prompts more open ended and in the spirit of innovation or hiring people and paying them fairly. Looking forward to hearing the talks but going to have to skip the hackathon portion this time!

Hey Sarah. Sorry you feel this way. This was definitely not our intent. Our focus for this event is really to work with our partners like Google and The Connected Marketer's Institute to lay down a path for coders to learn about and potentially join the marketing technology industry. A cash prize can be found anywhere. The real prize here is the certification and recognition that will come out of this event.
