SF Data presents by-invite-only tech talk on emerging technologies and approaches for real-time analytics of streaming data, including data from mobile SDKs.

The talks will cover practical ETL techniques geared towards handling the exponential growth of data from IoT, mobile apps and social streams, as well as discussion of super-fast column-oriented data stores. The speakers will provide a highly technical deep-dive as well as practical use cases examples.

Crittercism - Jeremiah Edwards (Head of Data Team)

At Crittercism, Jeremiah leads the data team in generating real-time ​analytics from 100B+ monthly app launches and other in-app events related to user experience & performance optimization. He will give a talk on different ETL strategies and warehousing solutions for working at different scales. Jeremiah has received degrees in Theoretical and Applied Mathematics from MIT and UPMC ​(Paris VI), and has worked on Data Transfer Optimization at Orange Labs

ScyllaDB - Dor Laor (CEO)

ScyllaDB is an early-stage technology startup that is advancing the state-of-the-art for column-oriented databases. Their technology is fully compatible with Apache Cassandra and claims 10x the throughput, but with the low-latency of Redis. Dor was part of the founding team of the KVM hypervisor under Qumranet that was acquired by Red Hat. At Red Hat Dor was managing the KVM and Xen development for several years. Dor holds an MSc from the Technion and a Phd in snowboarding.

MetaMarkets - Steven Harris (VP Engineering)

Metamarkets is a real-time analytics platform for buyers and sellers of programmatic advertising. At Metamarkets, Steven leads the development of the engineering organization. This includes production ops, front end and backend services. The core analytics store behind Metamarkets is open source Druid, an interactive, real-time analytics store for business intelligence queries on event data. Steven will talk about Druid, and the value it brings to Metamarkets and other organizations. Steven brings over 18 years of experience designing, building and tuning high performance infrastructure software.
