Scuba Happy Hour at Southern Pacific Brewing

Hi all, let's get together at happy hour to celebrate our favorite activity, and look ahead to the future of this group. As a few of you have noticed, I recently became the group's new organizer, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and exploring the sport we all love.

For our next event, we'll be going back to one of our past happy hour locales, Southern Pacific Brewing in the Mission. We'll get started at 5:30, but feel free to drop in anytime between then and 7:30 or so. The bar can get a bit crowded, so look for the bright orange dive-safety sausage!

While we're mostly just gathering to enjoy each other's company and talk among ourselves, I would like to take a few minutes to conduct a slightly more structured meeting -- if the ambient bar noise allows, which I realize it may not! I'd like to hear what you want from the group, and how the group can help make your diving life even more fulfilling. And of course, quick stories about your diving experience are always fun. How and why you got started with scuba, your favorite dive memory, or maybe the dumbest thing you've ever done in the water. (Don't worry, my story is dumber than yours.) No requirement that everyone talks, of course, and we wouldn't have time for that anyway. Just an invitation to those who might like to share a quick story as we get to know each other.

My background, very briefly: I've been diving for 35 years, and became a PADI instructor 20 years ago. I'm a former scuba shop owner with nearly 2,000 dives, about half of them in California and the rest all over the world. I've organized dozens of group outings, everything from beach dives to day charters to international voyages. I've been a Meetup organizer since the early days, and have put together more than a thousand events, primarily hiking and wine tasting.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing about your diving. I attended one happy hour with the group last summer, and it was clear that you're an interesting, vibrant bunch. See you on May 20th!
