How A Shark Thinks: a fascinating, free talk at the SF main library on Larkin
Details
As most divers know very well, the public portrayal of sharks as villains and killers is vastly overblown. So let's get to know a little more of the truth about sharks. What are their lives like? What are their actual eating habits? How long do they live, and where do they migrate? Knowing about sharks in this way — especially how they think — helps us see them as vital members of our ocean world, to be respected and celebrated.
As part of the San Francisco Library's ongoing Wonderfest series, Dr. Stephen Palumbi, Professor of Marine Sciences at Stanford University, wiill share his knowledge of the ocean's most misunderstood creatures. Steve is also a Professor of Biology, Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment, and leader of The Palumbi Lab at Hopkins Marine Station, all at Stanford.
This free, non-ticketed event, co-presented by Wonderfest and the Library, will be held in the Steve Silver Music Center on the 4th floor of the main branch, at 100 Larkin. The 90-minute presentation begins at 6 pm; I'll arrive early and stand at the entrance to the room until at least 5:45, so we can find each other and sit together. After that, I'll be in the seats. I'll post a comment with more info on how to find me as soon as I'm at the event.
Hope you can join us!
