Strava Metro (https://metro.strava.com/) was created in 2014 with the mission of helping transportation planners better understand how people move through their communities. Strava Metro partners with public agencies of all sizes such as Departments of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, counties and cities to improve infrastructure for bicyclists and pedestrians. Originally a dense, custom-built data product; Metro has recently evolved into a streamlined web interface allowing users to more easily access insights about active transportation. Now serving more than 200 organizations across the globe, Strava data is helping improve active transportation for millions of people.
Join us to learn more about Strava Metro and how it's helping to improve transportation and more with Haynes Bunn, Erik Sunde, and Brian Rogers. The conversation will focus on a discussion about anti-racism, race, and equity in active transportation, specifically in the Metro data.
Erik Sunde (https://www.linkedin.com/in/erik-sunde-44a25120/) is currently the Product Manager for Strava Metro, where he is focused on growing the impact of the Metroview platform. Prior to his role as a PM, Erik joined Strava in 2018 as a Customer Success rep and GIS engineer. Prior to that, Erik worked in the energy sector, focused on land ownership. Erik is originally from Denver, Colorado and holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Colorado.
Haynes Bunn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/haynesbunn/) joined Strava in March 2016 and helps partners utilize Strava Metro data to analyze active transportation and improve bike and pedestrian infrastructure. She has a Master's Degree in GIS from the University of Southern California, and became an avid bike commuter during her time working at a non-profit in Washington, DC. She is based out of Strava's Hanover, New Hampshire office, and her favorite activities include running, cycling, spending time with her husband Rob, and hiking with their dog Raleigh.
Brian Rogers (https://www.linkedin.com/in/linebrake/) joined Strava in 2013 and is currently Product Engineering Lead for Strava Metro. He holds dual B.A.s in Computer Science and Philosophy from Brown University. He has a career-spanning passion for Web Engineering and a life-spanning passion for bicycles of all shapes and sizes.
