About us
San Francisco Vegan Society (SFVS) welcomes people wherever they are on the path to an all-plant, vegan diet and lifestyle. We promote the adoption of a vegan lifestyle for ethical, healthy and sustainable living, and offer a community for people to meet, learn, exchange ideas and interact with others interested in compassionate living for a better world. Together we can make this movement grow and encourage a way of life that is better for your health, better for the well-being of animals, better for the environment, and better for humanity.

COMMUNITY NOTE:
As of June 3, 2025, SFVS became the organizer of this group. SFVS uses this Meetup group to share both Official SFVS Events and Community-Led Events. Only events that display the SFVS logo in the event image are SFVS-sponsored events. All other listings should be understood as community postings, not official SFVS programming. Community-led events are hosted by members or other organizations and are shared as a courtesy when they are related to veganism; they are not sponsored or endorsed by SFVS.
If you have questions about whether a specific event is SFVS-sponsored, please email [events@sfvs.org](mailto:events@sfvs.org) — we’re happy to clarify.

Humane Hoax Online Conference 2026
Tuesday, March 17
10:00 am – 12:30 pm Pacific Time
via Zoom
Faced with mounting cultural criticism of animal farming for food products, manufacturers, consumers, and even some animal advocates are increasingly turning to so-called “humane” labels and marketing strategies. These labels, phrases, slogans, and imagery are found on a wide range of animal products, from large facilities with thousands of animals to “backyard” operations. However, commodification, exploitation, and killing are prevalent in all animal farming methods. The Humane Hoax Online Conference brings together experts on a variety of aspects to expose the humane hoax in all its forms. This year, the conference will delve deeper into humanewashing, featuring speakers from diverse perspectives. We will explore the topic with a critical eye and challenge this growing trend.
Please join us on March 17, 2026 for this inspiring event as we further this urgent and necessary conversation regarding The Humane Hoax!5 attendees
