Do you dream of eating cake day and night? Do you have 3-5 packs of Earth Balance baking sticks stockpiled in your fridge? Do you love chatting and picnicking in the sun? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this may be the event for you! 🍰

—How it works—
Bake or buy a vegan cake you’re super excited about, bring it to the park to share, and indulge in slices of all the cakes as you meet and chat with other cake enthusiasts! Bring a plate and fork to picnic, and a Tupperware to take cake home with you!

This is a vegan event! While every cake lover, vegan or not, is warmly welcomed, every cake should be 100% vegan -- no eggs, no dairy, no honey, no gelatin, no meat, no fish, no products derived from animals of any kind.

—About your cake
Other than being vegan, the sky is the limit! Homemade or store-bought, pistachio and rosewater genoise sponge or classic vanilla sheet cake. You may even dip your toe into the world of savory cakes! Whatever you bring, just make sure you are excited and enthusiastic about your cake. We are all here to revel in the magnificence of cake, after all!

If you are looking for recipes or inspo, I highly recommend checking out Nora Cooks and The Banana Diaries.

Additional requirements:

  • Your cake should be big enough to share with at least 10 people (eg ~9in if it’s a single layer cake)
  • Your cake should be on a surface you can cut on. A cutting board, cake plate, etc.
  • Please bring a small card or sticky note listing your cake flavor and any major allergens (like nuts, sesame or soy — we’ll assume gluten unless otherwise noted!)

—IMPORTANT: What else to bring—

  • Something to cut your cake with
  • Plate and fork to picnic with
  • Tupperware to bring any uneaten slices home!
  • [Optional] Blanket / chairs for park lounging
  • [Optional] Water as a palate cleanser between flavors :)

We will provide a few extra cake cutters and to-go containers in case you don’t have anything suitable, but please try to bring your own plates and forks to keep this event zero waste.

—Arrival time—
We will be digging into cakes on a rolling basis so for maximum feasting, please try to arrive close to the start time!

—Getting there—
Potrero Del Sol is close to many Muni lines and about a 20min walk from 24th St Bart.

There is 3 hour parking for $11 at SF General Hospital Medical Center Garage, just about 1 block away. You can also search for street parking around the area.
