What we’re about

I have attempted to establish three guidelines:
#1) I am trying to keep the number of members low so that we feel like a group that knows each other. Looking for committed people of all ethnicities who desire to be active enough to surf the meet-up page (hopefully monthly) and attend an event (annually).
#2)  I would also like to enforce a rule of attending at least one local event before going out of town with the group. I believe that this is only fair and will make everyone feel comfortable. So if you are planning on attending (a camping trip, an international trip, or perhaps a cruise), you would need to participate in a hike, a festival, a movie, bowling, etc., before an overnight event. It only seems logical that you would want to get to know the people you share a hotel or cabin room with.
#3)  I am asking each member to post an actual picture of themselves. Not a poem, no emoji, or your favorite hat, etc. When you meet a member for the first time at a movie, the flea market, or getting coffee, you know what the other person looks like. I understand that some members have very confidential careers in law enforcement, social work, or perhaps you have experienced a domestic situation in your past. You do not want someone to find you. I will respect your privacy if you send me a brief email telling me why you cannot post your picture.
Please be respectful and cancel your RSVP in advance if possible; some of these events take a great deal of time to coordinate and sometimes money.   One other item: message and state that you are standing outside the restaurant or movie when you get to your location. Everyone does not need your cell phone number; post a message if you are attending that you have arrived. Thanks.
Suggestions are always welcome!   (Updated by LDW on  8/7/22)
