Shakespeare in the Park! Midsummer Night's Dream PLUS Taming of the Shrew

Details

July 26 UPDATE - Hi folks, I (Harry) am picking up the hosting for this event from Randi. Since I don't own a pool noodle, I have cobbled together "clapping hands on a pole" as a marker for our group (see photo).
Looking forward to seeing you there!

UPDATE - I have to attend to some personal business on Sunday that has unexpectedly come up and will not be hosting this event. Apologies to everyone - have a great time.

UPDATE ON TIMING OF SHOWS: Midsummers starts @ 3 and runs until 4. Taming starts @ 4 and runs until 5. I'm updating the timing of this event to match these times. Of course you are free to come early.

Let's have a field trip and come out to see Backyard Bard performing a double header! See BOTH Midsummer Night's Dream 3-4 PM, followed by Taming of the Shrew 4-5 PM. These performances are free! Bring your chairs (Low back preferred but if you prefer or need the high back type don't sweat it) and snacks to share. These are always loads of fun.

Backyard Bard presents two stripped-down productions of Shakespeare’s plays, each one hour long, and both performed by a small ensemble of versatile actors.

## A Midsummer Night’s Dream

#### About the Play

Deep in an enchanted forest, feuding fairy royalty meddle with lovesick mortals, causing hearts to tangle and affections to go hilariously astray. A mischievous sprite named Puck sprinkles a bit too much fairy dust, leading to donkey-headed suitors, bewitched lovers, and a delightfully absurd play within a play. Enchantments unravel and true love is tested culminating in a whirlwind of magic, mischief, and romance.

## The Taming of The Shrew

#### About the Play

Sharp-tongued Kate wants nothing to do with marriage, but the bold and mischievous Petruchio is determined to win her. As he matches her wit with outrageous antics, their romance turns into a hilarious war of words, wills, and mind games. Meanwhile, Kate’s sweet younger sister, Bianca, has a line of eager suitors—but she can’t marry until her “shrewish” sister is wed. What follows is a chaotic mix of disguises, tricks, and unexpected twists.
