Figs? Anyone want some figs? Hey, like the boxes of Cracker Jack when we were kids, my baskets of figs come with a surprise. Folks call me Countryman (sometimes Clown) & I get a crucial couple minutes in the final scene of Antony & Cleopatra, a play sometimes labelled as ‘Romeo and Juliet for grownups.’ Come listen to a big-time culture clash: cool, severe, rational Rome, where Octavius Caesar is pulling the strings against the steamy, sultry, ‘gaudy nights’ Egypt of Queen Cleopatra. Caught in the middle is Antony, AKA Marc Antony, who you’ll likely remember from that earlier play, Julius Caesar. But this time around, Antony is a dude much-changed!

RSVPs open 1 PM PDT/4 PM EDT on Saturday 10 January. The role charts are already posted, so you can be looking them over even before RSVPs open.

Once you have RSVP-ed & received from MEETUP the automated ‘you’re going’ message, please then message me DIRECTLY with your preferred role choices (at least three); I will assign on a first-come, first-served basis. Even if you have no role preference, please message me anyway & let me know.

If you are 'wait-listed,' you will still get an email on the day of the event with the ZOOM link. We encourage you to join in. There is an on off-chance that you can pick the role if a registered attendee can't make it. Or you can just listen.

Our group’s STRONGLY preferred text for the play is the Folger edition. Here is the link:
