About us
Welcome to the Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) Meetup group! We are a community of environmentally conscious individuals united by our passion for protecting the flora, fauna, land, air, and water of the Sacramento River Watershed through advocacy and education.
Join us to connect with like-minded individuals who share interests in environmental issues in our community. Together, we will learn, hike, collaborate, and take action toward creating a more sustainable world for our families, our children, and future generations!
Be sure to fill out a waiver (each person will need to fill this out every calendar year) before you head out on a trip with us! https://www.ecoshasta.org/events/trip-event-waiver/

Families in the Forest
Redding, CA, USJoin SEA volunteers Holly White-Wolfe and Juliet Malik—California Naturalists —for a special educational outing designed for families with young children. The event is designed for children, their siblings, parents, grandparents, or other caregivers to enjoy together.
We’ll explore the benefits of time in nature by stimulating our senses with sights, sounds, scents, and other soothing qualities of the natural world. Studies suggest that just two hours per week in nature is linked to better health and well-being (Weir, 2020). Nature can help reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and boost overall well-being (Grinde and Patil, 2009).
We'll take a break for story time on our picnic blankets. Our special guest, a local gnome, will share how to identify local mountains, waters, and plants. He’ll guide us through how we can start to notice more together.
Come along with us while we build a sense of belonging to a community that cares for its ecosystem.
(Note: we plan to repeat this event again in October 2026.)
Event Details:
Please no dogs except service dogs on a leash–this helps us better observe living creatures.
Walking will be on mostly flat surfaces in easy-to-hike terrain. Surfaces may be uneven, so hiking boots or closed-toe walking shoes are recommended.
Event will be cancelled in the event of a storm.
Prepare for the event:
- REQUIRED: Register for the event and sign the waiver form here. (Children must be accompanied by an adult. A registration form is needed for each adult and child.)
- Please bring a picnic blanket, water, and a snack.

Free for All ~ Thing Swap
Anderson, CA, https://maps.app.goo.gl/5b82fnkbr3GERMLX8, Anderson, CA, USJoin the Shasta Environmental Alliance and the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District for a lively “Free for All ~ Thing Swap”—a morning of sharing, treasure‑hunting, and community connection. Bring gently used items you no longer need, set them out for others to enjoy, and browse the tables to see what useful or delightful things you might take home.
Thing swaps are a simple, joyful way to care for our ecosystem by reducing consumption, extending the life of everyday items, and keeping usable goods out of the landfill. They also strengthen community ties—every shared object becomes a small act of generosity that helps neighbors meet neighbors.Event Details
You may place your giveaway items on the tables provided or bring your own. Please label any personal tables as “not part of swap” so they return to their owners at the end of the event.
Participants are responsible for removing any unclaimed items they brought. Event organizers cannot provide disposal or cleanup services.
After you’ve finished setting out and collecting items, stay to enjoy informal community activities—games, raffles, and opportunities to connect with others who care about reducing waste and building a resilient local community.
Please, no pets except service dogs on a leash.
Location
Western Shasta Resource Conservation District,
6270 Parallel Road, Anderson, CA 96007Parking is limited near the WSRCD building, so carpooling is encouraged.
Prepare for the Event
- Clean out your garage, shed, and closets. Look for items you haven’t used in a year, things that feel like clutter, or items someone else could put to good use. Unused seed packets, extra garden tools, plastic pots, bikes, skates, camping gear, kitchen items, books, art supplies—almost anything can find a new home.
- Pack your items for easy transport. Bring boxes or bags you can carry from the unloading area to the tables, which may be a few hundred feet away.
- Label items that are not part of the swap. Mark tarps, tables, boxes, or other containers you plan to take home.
- Bring a bag or box for treasures you collect. Label it with your name so others know your gathered items are no longer available for swapping.
