All SWG members (those with active ramblers membership) are invited to the Sheffield 20s & 30s Walking Group Annual General Meeting 2024.
Time: 19:00 to 21:00 but then a chance to stay around for a drink afterwards.

The Annual General Meeting is a chance to:

  • Celebrate all that has been achieved by the group in the last year.
  • Have your say by raising any motions or matters arising for the meeting (email any of these in advance so they can be added to the agenda)
  • Look forward to the coming year culminating in the appointment of a new committee for 2024/2025

Committee Roles 2024/2025
Each year we seek new volunteers to join the committee. The time, effort and skills given each year is essential to making the group what it is. The committee runs the day to day activities of the group though undertaking a number or rolls listed below. Being part of it is really rewarding, through helping the group run smoothly as well as coming up with new ideas.
The roles available are:
Chair

  • Support the running of the group, chairing meetings, following Ramblers procedures and helping respond to enquiries.
  • Be a link with National and Regional Ramblers through attendance of South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire Ramblers quarterly meetings

Vice Chair

  • Currently does the role below too.
  • We would like to change to focus of vice chair to supporting walk leaders through walk planning events, regular contact and updates

Group Walks Programme Coordinator (currently done by Vice Chair)

  • Plan and advertise the group walk program
  • Coordinate group kit (e.g. first aid kits and maps) making sure that it is up to date and available to walk leaders

Secretary

  • Arrange group meetings preparing agendas and taking notes
  • Keeping track of membership numbers and queries

Treasurer

  • Look after group finances managing group expenditure and funds to support group activities

Publicity Officer

  • Run monthly new member pub meets
  • Advertise the benefits of being a group member
  • Promote the group and group activities through social media accounts

Weekends Away Coordinator

  • Finding, booking and planning group weekends away with support from rest of committee

Social Secretary (x 2)

  • Help run and organise social events for group members. Including summer and Christmas parties
  • Help group members organise, advertise and run social events

Website Coordinator

  • Maintain and improve group website and online accounts such as Meetup

Other roles e.g. Training or Help with admin such as putting walks on the web page

  • We would really like to hear from you if would like to be part of the group

If you intend to stand please give your name, Ramblers membership number, which role you are standing for. You are also welcome to provide a manifesto to support your application should you wish. Voting will be done on the night of the AGM by a show of hands.
Please note: to join the meeting you need to be a current Ramblers member.
