2 hikes: Hightop Peak and South River Falls
Details
Join us for TWO HIKES in Shenandoah National Park! The two hikes are only 8 minutes from each other! This will be a drive for most of us so why not hike two trails to make the drive worth it?!
The first hike will be South River Falls trail. We will hike the out and back that is 4.3 miles, 1194 mile elevation. It features views of amazing waterfalls!

The second hike we will do is called Hightop Peak trail, a shorter hike of 3 miles and 915ft elevation. It features an impressive overlook of the nearby valleys.

Plan:
- Meet up at the South River trailhead at 10:45am. This will be a big parking lot with plenty of places to park and has a public restroom. We will set out at 11:00am and hike at a moderate pace. For this hike we will take a specific route so we can see the base of the waterfall! We will hang out at the base for awhile and then head back up! We will aim to be back at the parking lot around 2:00pm.
-Next we will head to Hightop peak. The parking for this hike is said to be very limited. Please be aware if parking ends up being full we may have to carpool one another from the first trailhead. The drive is only 8 minutes so we will set off on this hike around 2:30pm. This hike is shorter so expect to be finished and back at the parking lot 4-4:30pm. This will give everyone plenty of time to get home before sunset.
Important notes:
- This will be a longer day of hiking so make sure to bring water, food, and anything you might need throughout the day.
- You will need a park pass to get into the entrance of SNP. Only one pass is needed per car, so carpool if necessary.
- By attending this event you, or any guests you bring, accept the potential risks that include serious injury.
Lets do this!!!
