Are you a fan of Sherlock Holmes? This group loves the stories of Arthur Conan Doyle, murder mystery and detective fiction. We have about 9 meetings a year that consist of interesting speakers, presentations, news, quizzes, story discussions, songs and prizes. Our official name is the Bootmakers of Toronto.

Bootmakers Meeting, July 18
·OnlineOnlineThis month, a special meeting has been called so that The Bootmakers of Toronto may study Sherlock Holmes Apocrypha. In Part 1 of our study we'll be reading 3 stories from the Apocrypha: The Field Bazaar, How Watson Learned the Trick, and The Lost Special.
Our Special Guest will be Steve Emecz. Steve is the co-founder of MX Publishing, which has become the world's largest specialist publishers of Sherlock Holmes pastiches, fiction and non-fiction, and is also an ardent supporter of the Save Undershaw campaign. He will be speaking to us about Sherlock's Home, The Empty House, Undershaw, and the World's Largest Sherlock Holmes Anthology.
Our second Special Guest will be Dr. Satomi Saito, PhD will enlighten us on The Evolution of Classical Detective Fiction in Japan. Dr. Saito is a Senior Lecturer of Japanese at Clemson College of Arts and Humanities. His research spans Japaniese popular media, film and literary theory, and cultural studies.
Quiz mistress Karen Campbell will be ready with a quiz to make sure you are all paying attention! The quiz will be based on the 3 stories!
