What we're about

The Shoreline Sailing Club is a club for active singles. We have both sailors and power boaters. Please join me at the Westbrook Elks, 142 Seaside Ave., Westbrook, the first and third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This club has 200 members and usually about 80-100 people attend our meetings twice a month. (at the moment our in person gatherings have ceased due to Covid)

Covid message from our Commodore David Zita:

The good news is that vaccines are coming soon and will pave the way for a transitional new normal. It is a time for moving into the future with optimism as well as a continued and considered sense of caution. I expect we will rely on our terrific volunteers to plan 2021 activities as if we will approximate a return to normality in the relatively near future. As I write this in mid-December 2020, the virus rates are surging and and worse is expected following the end of the year holiday celebrations. Fortunately, technology enables us to stick together. Beginning in January 2021, SSC will be an online community until we feel safe enough to re-convene in person in our old haunts. I expect we will meet online to talk sailing and boating, occasionally with speakers, as well as socializing at our usual meeting dates, first and third Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00 or so.

I sincerely hope that these words of caution will seem quaint and dated by the end of 2021 and these comments about the virus will be "so 2020."

Please note that when you join SSC meetup.com, you are not automatically a member of SSC.

We are a very FUN group who all the many common interests; we are all single, enjoy socializing and we all have a passion for the water. Hope to see you there!

Follow us on Facebook too, join the FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/shorelinesailingcl ...

Shoreline Sailing Club Clark Field Old Saybrook

210 Elm St

NOTE - In person meeting at Clark Memorial Field, 210
Elm Street, Old Saybrook.

The Shoreline Sailing Club is a wonderful group of single people whose members share sailing/boating opportunities in one of the finest cruising areas in the country, Long Island Sound. Those new to sailing/boating are welcome, as well as experienced skippers and crew. Although we are a sailing club, and our primary mission is sailing, we do many activities besides following our passion for sailing. We also enjoy a wide range of social and recreational activities throughout the year.

The sailing and social calendar is very full. In the summer there are day and sunset sails, weekend sails and a week long cruise. During the off season, SSC members have sailed in Greece, British Virgin Islands, Antigua, Grenadines and St. Vincents.

Throughout the year there are parties, group trips, dances, geocaching events, hiking, theater events, dinners and brunches, and docksides, which are small parties and gatherings hosted by members.

Many members will say that they love the Shoreline Sailing Club because of the great friendships they have made and the wonderful opportunities they have had to go sailing and boating! Please join us, twice a month, on the first and third Thursdays at 6:30 PM.
