The Shorewalkers’ Great Saunter does a fantastic job covering most of Manhattan’s perimeter — but to keep the route smooth, some scenic but tricky spots along the East and Harlem Rivers often get skipped.

This walk is for those curious about what got left out.

We’ll start around 155th Street, head east to reach the Harlem River waterfront, and then walk south, staying close to the river whenever possible. Along the way, we may hop onto a few bridges into the Bronx — just out and back — to enjoy river views and explore some often-overlooked corners of Manhattan’s edge.
