World War I Memorial walk in Central Park

This will be a guided tour (with much, much commentary) which will encompass the World War I memorials and monuments of Central Park and will explore the impact of World War I on America and New York City.

Please take advantage of the restrooms at the meeting location before the hike begins. Leaving our starting point, we will enter Central Park and make our way north on the eastern side of the park. Highlights will include the 107th Infantry Memorial and the 307th Infantry Regimental Grove. After making various stops at points of historical interest, the walk will end at the Engineers Gate.

We will exit Central Park at 90th Street and Fifth Avenue. The closest subways at the end point are the #6 train on Lexington and 86th Street or the Q train at 86th Street and Second Avenue.

Owning to the Group Guided Tour nature of this event, it will be restricted to 25 attendees. I have led this tour on Veteran's and Memorial Day for many years and will continue to do so in the future, so if you are not on the "Going List" there will be hope for a spot in the future.

Will be walking at a moderate (not slow) pace. The walk will last close to three hours and will cover about 4 miles. There will be ample restrooms stops.

Heavy rain/snow or other forms of extreme weather will cancel the walk. Please check this site for updates.
