Staten Island: Fort Wadsworth

Details
Join us for a park ranger-led tour of Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island.
Kiki B., longtime Shorewalker, licensed tour guide, and Staten Island resident, will meet the group at the S51 bus stop. We'll ride the bus to the Fort where we’ll go to the Visitor’s Center and walk through an exhibit about the fort’s history. Restrooms available. The group is scheduled for a 10:30−11:30 a.m. private tour (free).
After our tour and lunch at the outlook or grounds, take the S51 bus to the ferry. Or walk back with Kiki to the ferry, pausing for wall murals and other street art. Approximately 4-5 miles.
MEET: 8:45 a.m. in the Whitehall Ferry Terminal on the Manhattan side. Hike Leader Pam Cress will meet the group on the second floor of the terminal in the area of the restrooms. We'll take the 9 a.m. ferry (free). Or meet the group on the Staten Island side at the S51 bus stop ramp B outside the Terminal. Plenty of parking at Wadsworth for drivers. Option for history buffs: The rangers have told us they have an open house at Battery Weed 2−4 p.m.
BRING: water, lunch, snacks. (No restaurants at fort.) Sunscreen and hat strongly recommended. RAIN DATE IS JULY 26.
HIKE LEADERS: Kiki Black and Pam Cress, pactoday@gmail.com, 929-425-4212 and 917-597-2664. Please note in comments how you plan to arrive to the Fort.
