Sunday in the Park + Walter Parks Concert + Beach Bar π π· ~6 miles

Details
Let's do it again - with a twist! Take a shorter, half loop of the park + check out Michael Alfano's sculptures first.
NOTE THAT RAIN CANCELS and I'll post final decision Saturday evening.
Summer is here so let's enjoy it with a leisurely waterfront stroll, cool tunes under the setting sun by Walter Parks & Unlawful Assembly and drinks+ at Jersey City's famous beach bar, Surf City.
We'll assemble outside the Exchange Place Path Station under the Katyn Memorial and start with a tour of Michael Alfano's art installation Of Many Minds before walking south 5 minutes to use the very nice restrooms at the Paulus Hook ferry terminal and beginning our walk.
Boarded by water on 3 sides, Liberty State Park is a beautiful oasis facing downtown Manhattan with the closest views of Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty by land. It includes a nature preserve, a 2 mile walking path along Upper New York Bay and the Empty Sky Memorial to 9/11.
Meet Up Location & Event Details
- We'll meet outside the Exchange Place Path station in Paulus Hook. There are really nice restrooms 5 minutes down the walkway which we'll use before heading to the Park. We will begin at 4:15 pm SHARP so check Path/ Ferry schedules to make sure you are on time. Here are Path routes & times and also NY Waterways times.
- There is parking in the park for those who would prefer to drive. DM me if you choose that option so I can tell you where to meet us.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat, bug spray, water & snacks
- Bring a towel or blanket to sit on for the concert (there are no chairs). There MAY be food trucks, though you can bring your own picnic OR get a bite afterwards at Surf City.
- Concert runs from 6-8p with an intermission, though we may not stay the full 2 hours.
- Pace will be easy to moderate with an additional restroom stop within the park, though no official break.
- NO dropouts once IN the park, though there are 2 Light Rail stations (Liberty State Park & Jersey Avenue) near the entrance/ exit points that can bring you back to Exchange Place.
- Also once out of the park, the closest Path station is Grove Street, which has trains going BOTH to 33rd Street AND to World Trade Center.
- If you are a NEW MEMBER and find yourself on the Wait List, DM me and I will make space for you.
- As always, please remove yourself from the Going list if your plans change,
On day of the walk, TEXT ONLY at 917-847-9014, leading with your name so I know who you are. My phone bounces unknown numbers, so please don't call or leave a voice message since I won't get it. Also don't leave messages on MeetUp the day of the walk as I won't see them.
