All Aboard the Seastreak Ferry to Atlantic Highlands, NJ - SOLD OUT

Details

Take a relaxing and scenic ferry ride on the Seastreak to the Atlantic Highlands on the NJ coast, where you will be greeted by hike leader Cameron Smith for a moderate to brisk-paced 6.5 mile walk and optional brewery visit at the end.

HIKE LEADERS:
New Jersey resident, Cameron Smith, leads this walk. camerons1006@gmail.com; 908-672-9250.
Co-leader Pam Cress will meet members at Pier 11/Wall St. in Manhattan to ride the Seastreak ferry together & can be reached at 917-597-2664 on the day of the event only. Please do not text her in advance, instead direct all questions to Cameron.

WALK DETAILS:
Enjoy a walk through the historic hilltop neighborhood of Atlantic Highlands including stops at Popamora Point along the Bayshore Trail, Mt. Mitchill Scenic Overlook, and a brief detour through the Lenape Woods Nature Preserve. We'll walk 6.5 miles at a steady, moderate to brisk-pace and make 2 restroom stops along the way.

There is no lunch stop but we will take a couple of brief breaks along the way and brewery allows you to bring in your own food so do bring light snack/drink along with water and comfortable hiking footwear.

After the hike, we will reward ourselves with a visit to Carton Brewing to unwind in the craft beer tasting room to end the day. Brewery does not offer non-beer options but all are welcome. There is also an ice cream shop nearby. The Seastreak Ferry is a short 10 minute walk from the brewery. There is an early drop-out point at 3.5 mile mark (Mt. Mitchill), and return via Highlands ferry at 5:20 pm.

Cost of the trip is $39 (NOTE: this is same price as last year!) which includes discounted Seastreak round trip (regular price is $49) & Brewery tasting which must be pre-paid before day of walk. We will only take 20 members (our limit for the ferry trip) who have RSVPd, Texted me, & made payment of $39 for the ferry trip. There will be no refunds unless your spot can be filled by another paying member. In case of a late cancel, there may be an open spot on the ferry but you must follow directions spelled out below in Modified RSVP Process section. Additional RSVPs will only be allowed for drivers who are not taking the ferry. Drivers will want to contact Cameron for directions and parking info.

MODIFIED RSVP PROCESS: Due to capacity constraints, I will require everyone including the president (I mean He Who Must Not Be Named, not Pam) who wants to join us to text me (908-672-9250) AFTER you RSVP to put yourself on the Waitlist AND promptly pay the $39 within 24 hours after you receive email with $39 payment request (members will only be moved to Going AFTER they text Cameron). Preference will be given to regulars on previous hikes and/or highly motivated members who will socialize with us at the brewery. Just to be clear, NO TEXT, NO PAYMENT, NO GO. I will stop taking RSVPs once we reach the 20 person paid limit for ferry ride unless you indicate you are driver.
PLEASE FOLLOW THE THREE-STEP PROCESS SUMMARIZED BELOW:
1) RSVP to get on the Waitlist.
2) Text Cameron at 908-672-9250 to get moved to Going list and receive email requesting $39 payment.
3) Make the $39 payment within 24 hours of receiving email or risk being removed from the Going list.

Please do not post any questions/comments prior to the walk but rather message or text Cameron with any questions/comments.

Take the Great Saunter Fall Challenge. Register here to walk 32 miles in 16 days starting October 4. Registration is only $10, and Shorewalkers will donate all fees to the Carl Schurz Park Conservancy, the dedicated caretakers of the park’s beautiful gardens and lawns.
