BAY RIDGE - Past and Present

Details
This will be a guided tour (with much commentary) which will explore
the many facets of the charming neighborhood of Bay Ridge. My main emphasis will be on the history of this section of Brooklyn, and of the different ethnic groups that comprised the past and make up the present Bay Ridge
The walk will take about 3 1/2 hours and cover about 5 miles. Between commentary stops we will maintain a moderate pace (this is not a stroll).
There will be several restrooms stops along the way but no lunch break.
We will begin by exploring the Fort Hamilton section and then follow the "Greenbelt" along Shore Road from the Verrazzano Bridge to Owl's Head Park. Stopping at various points of interest along the way.
Take the R train to the last stop at the 95th Street Terminal to reach the meeting place. The closest Subway Station at the end of the walk will be the Bay Ridge Avenue stop of the R train (Bay Ridge Avenue and Fourth Avenue.
Heavy rain/snow or other forms of extreme weather will cancel the walk. Please check this site for updates.
