Join us as we explore the historic Bay Ridge Branch, the old railway that will eventually become the Interborough Express (IBX), connecting Brooklyn and Queens.
The concept dates back to 1996, first proposed to link Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx via the Hell Gate Bridge. In 2019, the MTA announced plans to restore passenger service on the Bay Ridge Branch between Bay Ridge and Astoria. Today, it’s taking shape as a 14-mile corridor from Jackson Heights, Queens, to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
Let’s walk along this old railway from Jackson Heights to Bay Ridge, see the neighborhoods it will connect, and imagine the future of transit along this route!
Bring lunch, water, comfy shoes, and your curiosity! Let’s discover this piece of history and its future together.
