Take the Great Saunter Fall Challenge. Register here to walk 32 miles in 16 days starting October 4. Registration is only $10, and Shorewalkers will donate all fees to the Carl Schurz Park Conservancy, the dedicated caretakers of the park’s beautiful gardens and lawns. This walk will count for 8 miles of your total. You do not have to participate in the Fall Challenge to join the walk—all members are welcome.
Join us for a moderately paced, 8 miles one way walk where we will explore Mill Pond Park, and Roberto Clemente Park. We will walk over the 145th St. Bridge, Highbridge, Macombs Dam Bridge, spend some time at Yankee Stadium viewing the wonderful sidewalk memorials and continue on to Robert Clement State Park. We may extend the walk for another mile returning to Manhattan by crossing the University Heights Bridge.
Please bring lunch, water, and snack. Hat and sunscreen suggested. High exposure to sun.
Meet 10AM at the corner of 145 Street and Lenox Avenue (Malcolm X Blvd.), by the General Charlkes Robert Young Playground. Take mta subway no.3 3 to 145th street. Take first 4 cars of train.
