Tram 44 station at the Tram Museum, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre
Date & Time:
10:30 a.m. sharp for check-in and introductions. We will start walking promptly at 10:40 a.m.
Route Highlights
We follow a beautiful and varied path through southeast Brussels:
- Start along the Promenade de l'Ancien Chemin de Fer
- Continue to the Rouge-Cloître area and Chemin des Étangs
- Enter the magnificent Forêt de Soignes
- Reach Boitsfort
- Cross the charming Parc Tournay-Solvay, home to the Rose Garden and the unique megalithic Mexican Olmec head
- Pass by the site of the old Hippodrome
- Walk through the peaceful Bois de la Cambre
- End at the Guinguette at Bois de la Cambre in Ixelles
The trail is rich in nature (forests, ponds, greenery) and historical spots. Expect a mix of urban paths, forest trails and park landscapes – perfect for a full day out in Brussels!
Pace & Duration
- Distance: 20 km
- Average pace: 5 km/h (comfortable walking speed with breaks)
- Estimated walking time: about 4–5 hours pure walking
- Arrival at Guinguette at Bois de la Cambre around 5:00 p.m. (including breaks and lunch stop)
After the Hike To celebrate the end of our walk, we'll head to one of the charming guinguettes in the Bois de la Cambre for a well-deserved drink! 🍻 A relaxed spot to unwind, chat and enjoy the park atmosphere before heading home.
What to Bring
- Packed lunch (we'll have a picnic break along the way)
- At least 1.5 L of water (or more if it's sunny)
- Good walking shoes (trail can be uneven in the forest sections)
- Weather-appropriate clothing: layers recommended
- Rain jacket/poncho if forecast changes
- Optional: snacks, sunscreen, hat, small backpack, and maybe some cash or card for the post-hike drink!
Weather Forecast Mostly good conditions expected. Temperatures between 6°C in the morning and 18°C in the afternoon. Dress in layers and bring something warm for the start.
Event Etiquette & Good Manners
- Please register only if you're reasonably sure you can join.
- If your plans change, cancel as early as possible out of courtesy to those on the waiting list.
- Respect nature: leave no trace, stay on paths.
- Be friendly and inclusive – great opportunity to meet new people!
