2023 Goal Setting and Writing Meetup at Divine Coffee!

2023 is upon us! Let's start the year off strong by setting our writing goals for the year and then doing a 60-minute writing session at the lovely Divine Coffee afterwards.

At Shut Up & Write, we discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. Our Meetups will generally vary between mornings, afternoons, and evenings on different days of the week, so writers with all different schedules can attend.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done and then chat with other writers!

SCHEDULE:
9:30 AM - Hellos and introductions, time to purchase refreshments
9:45-10:20 AM - Each person states writing goals for the new year
10:20 - Timer starts - write for one hour
11:20 AM - The End: wrap up, chat, and take off, or stay longer if you want

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING can happen briefly before and then also after the writing time. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: Just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

Come with laptops charged just in case! There are some outlets around the shop if needed.

HOW TO FIND US: Look for the Shut Up & Write sign on the table. We will start inside, but can always move outside to the patio if weather allows!

TRAVEL / PARKING: There is a parking lot in front of and around the side of the cafe.

GUIDELINES: Please bring your laptops charged. There are some outlets inside but there may not be enough for everyone.
