Join us for an hour of writing! We've discovered that it's extremely beneficial for a lot of people to write with other writers. See if this is true for you in the Campbelltown SU&W Discord server.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
DATE: Mondays & Wednesdays at 2-3 pm
WHERE: Discord Server - Link on the event page.
SCHEDULE:
2:00 pm -Quick introductions
2:05 pm - Begin writing; I've found that some writers (including myself) write better listening to white noise, be that music or other people talking, like at a cafe, but if you don't want to join the conversation or don't want anyone to hear you, you can mute your mic. If you're the opposite and need silence, you can simply mute the entire call, including yourself.
3 pm: End of meeting; while this is the official end of the meeting, if some wish to stay on the call and talk to others or write for longer, that is completely fine, encouraged even, as there is no time limit on Discord.
BEING LATE IS OKAY. Simply join the call, say hi and start writing :)
A lot of people think writing is very solitary. And in a few ways, it is. Still, writing is also a part of the creative industry, along with music, art, animation and many more. One thing that almost everyone knows about the creative industry is that connections are key; connections with people help you improve and distribute your creative works.
Whether it's simply asking friends and family to listen to your music, look at your art or read some of your reading for their feedback or your teacher giving you a letter of recommendation for University to help you get your foot in the door.
Having connections with people, especially those involved in the creative industry, is an integral part of any creative career; though not entirely necessary and not an actual requirement (that would be a real dent in the plans for us introverts 😂), it can only make it all the easier in many ways.
Thank you for taking an interest, and I hope to see you, happy writers, there :)
