About us

Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.

What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Join us on the 5th of March at 9am for 90 minutes of focused writing. All writers and all experience levels are welcome. These sessions are about getting your writing done and meeting other writers.

SCHEDULE:
9am - Meet in front of the big staircase in the lobby of the Uni-Mail building. We will spend about ten minutes making introductions and a quick check-in where we share our writing goals for the session before entering the library for a quiet and focused writing session.

Being late is OK - we'll post in the comments where we are. Just look for the table with a Shut Up & Write! sign and join us.

At the end of the 90 minutes, we’ll have time to debrief how it went and get to know each other. No worries if you don’t have time to stick around or want to keep writing.

A NOTE ABOUT THE FORMAT:
We don’t host critiques or readings. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, so no one will read or critique your writing.

PROGRAMME:
9h - Rendez-vous devant le grand escalier dans le hall du bâtiment Uni-Mail. Nous passerons une dizaine de minutes à faire les présentations et un rapide tour de table où chacun partagera ses objectifs d'écriture pour la séance, avant de rejoindre la bibliothèque pour une session d'écriture calme et concentrée. Tu peux arriver en retard, on mettra un message dans les commentaires pour dire où on est. Cherche juste la table avec le panneau « Shut Up & Write ! » et rejoins-nous. À la fin des 90 minutes, nous aurons le temps de faire un bilan et de mieux nous connaître. Pas de souci si tu n'as pas le temps de rester ou si tu souhaites continuer à écrire.

Nous n'organisons pas de critiques ni de lectures. Ces événements sont un espace bienveillant pour les écrivains de tous niveaux et de tous genres littéraires, afin de travailler leur écriture — personne ne lira ni ne critiquera ton texte.
