If you’re looking for a writing group that offers you encouragement, motivation, accountability and sass, we can absolutely guarantee at least one of those things.

You'll find us online every Saturday at 9.20am, and in the Kelvingrove iCafe every Saturday at 10am for people able to get out of their beds. Here's how it works on Saturdays online:

9.20: Join us on Zoom for a pre-writing catch up. (The Zoom link is on the event page, visible only to attendees).

9.30: We'll start an hour's focused work on our current masterpieces, muted or off-camera to avoid disturbing each other.

10.30: We'll get back on camera for a post-writing cool-down, cheering each other on for the progress we've made. Everyone's then welcome to stay on, hanging out and talking rubbish for as long as people can take it.

Please bear in mind people bounce around ideas based on experiences that others might find upsetting, or in a tone that might feel appropriate to them but not to others. So let's not censor each other but let's also aim not to upset each other.

And let's go for basic Zoom etiquette, giving everyone a chance to talk and not talking over each other. Whee!

Fancy writing with company in a cafe on a Saturday morning? Well, we’re doing just that, every week, alongside the online sessions - come along and be super-inspired in the company of other writers and get stuff done!

Where can I find you?

We're at the Woodlands iCafe in the West end, in the big room to the right as soon as you walk through the front door, and there'll be at least a couple signs up by the tables the hosts are at so we're super easy to spot (or if all else fails, just look for the sea of laptops!).

How do I get there?

If you're driving: Park Drive next to the St. Andrews building more or less opposite the cafe has free parking on weekends and is fairly quiet in the mornings. Otherwise, there's on street parking all around Woodlands Road but this isn't free.

If you're using public transport: There's two bus stops literally right outside the cafe, and Kelvinbridge subway station is a five minute walk away.

How does it work?

10.00 - 10.15: Rock on up at the cafe feeling all productive and energised (for a Saturday morning anyway!) for some pre-writing chit chat or cracking on with getting stuff done.

10.15 - 11.15: Working on your next masterpiece in companionable silence!

11.15 - 12pm onwards: Post-writing chat and socialising! More writing if you like! Watching cute dogs go by the window!

The other important stuff

Whilst we have RSVP numbers capped and use the Waitlist feature, you can still come along - however be warned that if you are waitlisted, the chances of getting a seat will be very slim. As it is a public cafe and we are a large group, it's very common for there to be very few or no seats at all left each week.
