The Virtual World: Shut Up & Write on Zoom

Together we are strong. Together we are powerful force of creativity. Together we bring out the best in each other. Find a comfortable spot in your snuggly clothes and get ready for an hour of silent writing together.

THE GOOD STUFF:
We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with others, even if we’re all just hanging out online together. See if it’s true for you at 4PM (PT) on Friday afternoon!

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. And don’t worry, no one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice.

ONLINE SCHEDULE:
4:00pm (PT) - Get settled, quick intros and Connection Maker.
4:30pm (PT) - Timer starts: write for 1 hour.
5:30pm (PT) - (The End) chat / sign-off / keep writing.

UPDATED GUIDELINES (Please read):
The rules of our world have changed and I am changing with them. I will be implementing a few steps to ensure the safety of our magnificent group of writers.

1. Please select a Zoom name that is similar to the name listed on Meet-Up. This will reduce your wait time to enter the writing room and make my life much easier.

2. The Zoom password will be posted below in the 'Comments' one hour before the meeting starts.

3. Our RSVPs will close one hour prior to the start of our group.

4. Please, please update your RSVP if you are unable to attend. This will allow our writers on the waitlist to attend.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding in this new digital world. I have no doubt that we will find our new groove very soon.

WHAT DO I NEED?
A computer with working camera and microphone, a good internet connection, and optionally, headphones.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:

Technical difficulties are part and parcel of getting together online.

If you’ve never used your computer for an online meeting, take a few minutes before we meet to familiarize yourself with how to use Zoom by reviewing the below tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VebiA5pGq0

If you run into technical issues, remember that this is the time you’ve carved out for yourself and your writing. Whether or not you were able to join our online meet-up, go ahead and get your writing started, then leave a comment below to let us know how it went for you.
