What we’re about
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Mondays: first, second, third, fifth Mondays of every month, starting in October 2022.
6:30 p.m. - Quick introductions
6:45 p.m.- Timer starts: write for 1 hour
7:45 p.m.- The End: chat, take off, or keep writing (Fox Tail is open until 9 p.m)
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 6:30 and again at 7:45 p.m. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: Just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?
- Whatever you need to be able to write!
- Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
- Always good to come with a fully charged laptop or device. There is also seating outside with tables so dress for the weather if you prefer to write outside.
Other Important Details:
- Foxtail Coffee has WiFi with no password needed.
- TRAVEL / PARKING: Tons of free, well-lit parking! Look to the left of the Publix in the Plaza Venezia.
- SEATING INFORMATION: High and low tables or take a seat at the bar, front window or even outside. We'll let you know when the hour is up.
