Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

This session is about getting your writing done (whether you're working on fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, or something completely different) and meeting other writers in your area.
After 15 minutes of greetings and introductions, we’ll set a timer for a focused 60 minutes writing session. Wonderful conversationstions (sometimes brief shared writing) ensue afterwards for those who want to stay longer. Our events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, no one will read or critique your writing.We meet at the cafe straight forward as you enter B&N! We’re usually at one of the larger tables with our computers, journals, notebooks, etc… Please purchase a drink or food from the Barnes and Noble Cafe to support our local book store that graciously welcomes and allows us to spend our time together here.
