Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Shut Up & Write!® in Wellington
Barnes & Noble, 10500 Forest Hill Boulevard, Wellington, FL, USThis is a quiet, focused writing session designed to help you get words on the page. Writers of all experience levels are welcome.
You’re welcome to work on any kind of writing: school or work assignments, or personal projects such as books, blogs, poetry, screenplays, résumés, journaling, or research. No one will see what you’re working on, and we do not host critiques or readings.
SCHEDULE
10:00 – Arrival and brief orientation
10:15 – Writing block begins
11:30 – Writing block ends. You’re welcome to chat, keep writing, or head out.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING
Conversation is optional and takes place after the writing block.
RUNNING LATE
Late arrivals are welcome. Feel free to arrive quietly, get settled, and start writing.
WHAT TO BRING
- Whatever you need to write comfortably.
- Earbuds if you prefer minimal noise.
- Fully charged laptops or devices, as outlets are limited
Since we’re meeting in a café space, please consider purchasing something as a courtesy to our host.

This session is about getting your writing done (whether you're working on fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, or something completely different) and meeting other writers in your area.
After 15 minutes of greetings and introductions, we’ll set a timer for a focused writing session (60 minutes - can be extended longer depending on group and vibe). Wonderful conversationstions ensue afterwards for those who want to stay longer.
Please grab a drink or food from Starbucks Cafe at Barnes and Noble to support our venue.
This is not a critique group although consistent attendees will coordinate opportunities to do so.
