Shut Up and Write in Montavilla (Monti's Cafe)

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10 AM on Thursday mornings!

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

SCHEDULE:
10:00 - Quick introductions
10:15 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
11:15 - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing

Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a fun thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with Denise after the session. (She’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!

Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

Monti’s has power outlets, but as always, if you are bringing an electronic device, try to bring one that's as charged as possible.

Monti's Cafe has WiFi.

TRAVEL / PARKING: Monti’s Cafe is located inside Monticello Antique Marketplace at 8600 SE Stark St. Portland, OR 97216.
There is street parking available, and Tri-Met bus lines 15, 20, and 72 all have stops nearby (consider using trimet.org’s trip planner to plan your route).

GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something. They offer cafe drinks and food.
