What we’re about
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Sunday Shut Up & Write!® in Sheppard-Yonge
Sheppard Centre (Yonge Sheppard Subway) Food Court (lower level), 4841 Yonge St., Toronto, ON, CA#Note: As of Aug 17, 2025, we will be moving to Yonge Sheppard Centre due to the closing of our prior venue Whole Foods. Please read the new location details.
Coworking for writers in your area!
Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.
When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session.
Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries!
A note about the format
We don’t host critiques or readings. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, so no one will read or critique your writing.

Monday Shut Up & Write!® in Union Station
Union Station Toronto, 65 Front St W, Toronto, ON, CAI don't know about you, but I need to be working on my writing more on the weekdays too, besides our lovely Saturday gatherings.
So why not on Mondays, to start a week right, by doing the right thing, for you, and for me, and the entire human race.
And why not on Tuesdays, or the hump days, or Thursdays? I mean, I understand if Fridays are for going out and Sundays are for staying in.
Anyways, let's see if other people also would like to participate in communal writing sessions.
I know it's not a cafe but I can't think of better location 1) Open to public 2) Till very late 3) Has coffee 4) Super convenient transit wise. The downside is, it is REALLY open to public, and all that means.
LOCATION:
Union Station, We have been using new tables at Union Market, beside Lena's Floral Design. It's near Underground main Cafeteria/Food court. Let's say from McDonald's walk towards and past the washrooms. That is, downstairs food court, toward Bay street (east) and Not towards York (west)
RSVP:
I don't think we need to limit RSVP for Union Station.
SCHEDULE:
7:15 to 7:30 PM: Find tables and settle in.
7:30 to 8:30 PM: We shall write in silence.
8:30 on: People can stay and socialize, or keep on working if they are on a groove.
