Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Shut Up & Write!® – Saturdays at Bloc Cafe in Somerville (Union Square)
Bloc Cafe, 11 Bow St, Somerville, MA, USIMPORTANT DETAILS:
- We are usually inside at the long tables towards the back of the cafe.
- Seating is limited. It's a public cafe so there's not much we can do about this.
- The space is very air-conditioned, so you may want to bring a sweatshirt or something warm for extra comfort!
- You might want earplugs and/or headphones since they often play lively music at the cafe.

Shut Up & Write!® - Sunday at Panera (downstairs) in Porter Square
Panera Bread, Porter Square, 5 White Street, Cambridge, MA, USJoin us for some focused writing time! All writers and all experience levels are welcome. Don’t worry - no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.
Schedule:
2:00-2:15: Say hello to everyone, grab a drink or food, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers.
2:15: Once everyone’s arrived, we’ll lead quick introductions and then set the timer for one hour. We'll spend the hour working quietly on our individual writing projects.
If you arrive after we start the timer, please feel free to come and sit with us! We’ll make sure to check in with you after the hour is up and introduce you to the group.
3:15: After the timer goes off, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries!A note about the format

Other Important Details:
This venue is very close to the Porter Square red line station. There are several bus lines nearby as well. There is limited parking available around Porter.
