Write Separately but Together in Tomigaya

This event is the successor to Shut Up & Write Tokyo. One or two events will be posted here each month for newcomers.

Join us in person for 90 minutes of productive writing at Letterpress Letters Café in Tomigaya, an unassuming neighbourhood on the edge of Shibuya and the University of Tokyo's Komaba Campus, where there's an air of something special going on.

This is one such place: a working underground print studio-shop with a café.

We find it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers, in silence together (the Shut Up & Write methodology). See if it’s true for you from 08:30-10:30 on Thursday morning.
Whether you're working on a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

Optional socializing happens at the beginning and end of the session. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
Being late is okay. Just show up and get settled – we'll be inside the front door – then check in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the lanyard badge.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to listen to your own music or block out background noise or music playing in the cafe.
If you're writing on your laptop, be sure it's fully charged, as there's no guarantee you'll have an outlet nearby (at the discretion of café staff).

The café has free wi-fi, but please refrain from calls, downloading, uploading and/or streaming large, high quality content. The password will be provided at the register.

Please be prepared to order a beverage and/or snack to thank our hosts and support an independent business. Order at the counter once you pick your seat. Please let me know if this is an issue.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS
While the venue itself is accessible, our shared space is on the third floor and the restroom on the mezzanine level. The space has one type of seating (backed wooden chairs) and desk-height tables. If you have specific accommodating do let me know and we can figure something out.
Parking can be tight and/or expensive here, so consider other options than driving. Bike parking is available on the street in the segregated bike lane.

セッションの最初と最後には、参加者同士の任意的な交流があります。執筆は非常に孤独な作業です。他の作家と交流（時には共感し合うこと）を持つことは、素晴らしいことです。
遅刻は大丈夫です。到着して落ち着いてください。時間通りに到着された方は、遅刻してきた方のために場所を空けてあげて下さい。

執筆に必要なものは十分！
ご自身の音楽を聴きたい方、又はカフェ内で流れている音楽を遮断したい方は、イヤホンまたは耳栓をご持参下さい。
ノートパソコンで執筆される場合は、近くにコンセントがあるとは限りませんので、必ず充電済んでしてください。

カフェには無料Wi-Fiはあるんが、通話、大容量で高品質なコンテンツのダウンロード、アップロード、ストリーミングはご遠慮下さい。
