NAARM/MELBOURNE ADVENTURES FOR THE 18-25 CROWD
I (Mitch) study and work part time in events and created SideQuest as a newbie in town to ramp up my event planning skills and meet good people along the way

MAIN QUEST: SURVIVE ADULTHOOD — SIDE QUEST: FIND YOUR CREW
Are you 18–25 and looking for people to vibe with? Whether you’re new in town or a Melbourne native, SideQuest is all about finding friends and good times – making collective connections over collective hangovers. Maybe you’re into drawing, Marvel marathons, Dungeons & Dragons, board games, live theatre, PC gaming, or just love exploring the city and hunting down cheap eats — if that’s you, you’re in the right place

WHAT TO EXPECT
We host events bi-weekly, alternating between our usual hangouts and trying new things. Our goal is to create an inviting space, and discourage cliques so everyone stays involved. So far it's been a great experience, and everyone has been amazing

Totally LGBT+ friendly and international students are welcome too. If you’ve been searching for connections that blend creativity and a little geek culture with Melbourne adventure — bring your awkward, shy or extra, best self along

OUR USUAL HANGOUTS
🌆 Exploring the city, catching a new movie, team trivia nights at Fortress
⚔️ Dungeons and Dragons one-shots, casual gaming nights, and convention meetups
♟️ Board Game Nights at Marche (they give us a sweet $6 entry deal)
🍕 Foodie Quest Cheap eats + low-pressure hangouts

And we're always open to suggestions

WE HAVE A DISCORD SERVER!
For anyone who wants to stay connected, play, and chat after hours. Invites are made available after events for everyone who attended

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

  1. Only RSVP for an event if you're sure you can make it, and withdraw if things change. Most events have limited spaces, and we want to fill as many as possible. Repeat no-shows may be removed from the group out of respect for everyone's time
  2. We're all here to connect, have fun, and make friends. Remember to be friendly, and be respectful
  3. If you enjoy an event, we'd really appreciate a 5 star review on Meetup. It helps attract new members and future friends

Boring legal disclaimer stuff: By joining or group or attending any event, you agree that you are responsible for your own safety, behaviour, and personal belongings at all times. SideQuest organizers and hosts are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur during or as a result of attending group activities. Participation is completely voluntary and at your own risk. Please exercise common sense, respect others, and take care of your own belongings

See you soon ;)

Marché Board Game Café, 63 A'Beckett Street, Melbourne, AU

Our regular boardgames spot is honoring a special cause for R U Ok 2 Play? Day, raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. The format is the same casual gaming with, as always, an emphasis on connecting.

From the organisers: Not only are tabletop games fun, they are a great way to combat social isolation and improve mental health.
Sitting around a table with a shared activity can create a great sense of togetherness and games provide an amazing buffer if you find socialising difficult. Even though interaction is encouraged by the nature of a game, standard pleasantries and the need for small talk is eliminated and connecting with others becomes easier. Immersing yourself in a game is also a great way to get your brain thinking about things other than the usual ups and downs of life.

R U OK 2 Play? events will be running across the country for which Sidequest is pleased to support. No donations are required. Standard entry fee applies. Come along and get connected. If you are having a mental health crisis, please call Lifeline on: 13 11 14 24/7
or speak to your GP

Join the Side Quest at Marche Board Game Cafe! They give our group a sweet $6 deal on Wednesdays for 3 hours of play time. Because it's a small space we limit numbers to keep things from getting too crazy so RSVP now

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Games start at 6:30pm
  • SideQuest Special: $6 for 3 hours of play time (mention us at the door)
  • Order snacks, drinks, and comfort food if you get hungry

IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT
If you RSVP but can't make it or change your mind, no problem! Just make sure to pull out of the event on Meetup so someone else can take your place! Repeat no-shows may be removed from the group out of respect for everyone's time

FOR NEWBIES
If this is your first time here, make sure to read the group description. Boardgames are social so stress free. Also, check this page for updates before attending the event. Finally, Side Quest is for the 18-25 crowd. To keep everyone safe, we may ask to verify your ID
