Sidetrackers Outdoor and Active Singles Meetup Group

THE SIDETRACKERS MONTHLY MEETING is held on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m., excluding holidays. The Monthly Meeting has a new location off Southside blvd on the east side of the Avenues Mall ,the meeting consists of trip reports and discussion of recently-completed activities and events, and review and discussion of upcoming activities and events and trips including Fall trip and lodging .We try to schedule guest speakers on an occasional/as-available basis. Four times per year (March, June, September, December), the club holds a planning meeting. This is where the next three months of activities are tentatively discussed and put on a calendar and where YOU come in. The planning meeting is open to EVERYONE and you are encouraged to come and participate. Come out and express your desire for a specific event or even better yet – VOLUNTEER to lead an event you have a passion for. Once you decide to lead an event, please message the Sidetrackers editor, KI (message her on this app) with a basic outline of your description of the activity. If this is an activity that has been done previously, feel free to use the write up from that event. Several items to include in your write up are:

1. Day, time, and duration of activity
2. Location to meet
3. Description of the activity with any supporting information
4. Your name and number (text or voice) so that attendees may
   contact you for questions if needed
5. Do you want to limit the number of attendees – yes (how many)
   or no?

Paddle Simpson Creek from the PADL Little Talbot Island out to the ocean and back, 7.5 miles round trip. We will paddle with the outgoing tide and return with the incoming tide. Because low tide is at 12:18 PM, we need to start paddling between 9:30 and 10:00 AM otherwise, the launch area will be completely bottomed out. You can rent kayaks there, but it can be expensive ($100+), so when you make a reservation, make sure to verify the confirmed price. Once we reach the ocean, we will enjoy a quick picnic, some snacks, swim, and a bit of nature watching.

PADL (786) 749-6730, opens at 9:00 so be there on time and unload and ready to paddle between 9:30 and 10:00.

Wonderwood Bridge Walk: We will meet at 6:45pm at BBQ Barn at 14025 Mt. Pleasant Road, right before the Wonderwood Bridge. If you need more time to deal with traffic, please use MeetUp App or contact me and we can have a second group start around 7:15 pm or so. We will start at BBQ Barn and walk over the Wonderwood Bridge toward Hanna Park, go about 2 to 2.5 miles and turn back for a total of 4 to 5 miles . Afterwards we will grab a bite to eat at the BBQ Barn. Please dress accordingly for weather, as it is a bit breezy on top of bridge. If you have a flashlight, please bring it or let me know and I'll bring a few extra flashlights there's a small stretch of a quarter mile where you'll need some light.

It's Hot!
Looking for a fun way to stay cool? Join us on Sunday Aug 23rd at 10am for Water Games! We'll have a pavilion reserved, so feel free to bring a lunch to snack on and maybe something to share. We will have watermelon (for eating and for fun). Bring water balloons (we'll provide some, but you can never have too many), squirt guns, buckets, or other watery type devices. Wear clothes that can get wet - there is a bathroom for changing after.
