Butano State Park Hike + Harley Goat Farms
Details
This is NOT a Sierra Club sponsored hike.
This IS a fairly challenging 9.5 mile hike with a stunning variety of terrain.
We start with a sustained up, a walk along the ridge marveling at the regeneration of land from fire, a long narrow canyon trail (almost Sierra foothills like terrain) and finish with dessert - a lovely walk thru the redwoods. About 1500' elevation
After our hike, you will have the option to visit Harley Goat Farms and enjoy their excellent store and, of course, see the goats.
We start on time. End time approximate. Brisk & steady pace, average 2.4 mph.
Light lunch/snack along the trail.
SMALL group hike;
- RSVP only if you truly intend to come
- Keep RSVP current
- Leader appreciates a comment if you drop off
If you are in the lead you will end up waiting at trail junctions AND BRIDGES. If you are in the back, you will be asked to do your best to keep up with the group and at waiting points.
Please ALWAYS check this post the night before just in case there are any necessary adjustments to the hike details due to weather, air quality or whim.
There is an entry fee or bring your State Park pass. There is very limited parking at the entrance near the kiosk, which is our meet spot. If you do not see a spot here, there's more parking a little ways down the road and then walk back to the kiosk.
