Enjoy a scenic hike through the north central portion of Fort Ord National Monument to Lookout Ridge. There should be lots of wildflowers.
Distance 14 miles
Elevation 1427 feet
Please note that narrow trails are open to mountain bikes in this park and we will likely encounter some. Most of the riders we'll encounter are friendly and considerate. We'll have to be alert for those very few who ignore the signs and barrel down on us from in front or behind us. They may be surprised by our presence. Note that it can get hot where we're hiking. Please bring at least three liters of water and sweet/salty snacks.
If you wish to hike fast and get back early, this is not the hike for you. Expect stops to identify wildflowers. Mellow hikers welcomed. Likely average pace 2 mph
