Joseph Grant County Park is the largest of Santa Clara County's regional parks and a hidden gem; a bit of old California on the way to Mt. Hamilton just over the hill from the metropolis of Silicon Valley. The area is similar to Sunol Regional Wilderness, with oak savannah, oak forest, grasslands, and rugged hills. Grant was burned in the 2020 SCU (Santa Clara Unit) Lightning Complex fire though it has recovered significantly.
Join us on a 12 to 14-mile hike with approximately 2000 ft of elevation gain. Not for speed demons or gazelles, but not a hike for those just getting into shape.
• DO NOT attend if you are sick, coughing, sneezing, or have been around anyone who is sick.
Bring: Lunch, liquids, weather-appropriate clothing, poles if you use them
Meet: 10:15 AM in the parking lot at the end of the entry road (to the left of the roundabout) by the restrooms
