
What we’re about
We lead fun and educational outings to explore nature, to showcase areas that are being preserved, and to maintain trails. It's even more fun if you come along.
We also have other activities, including meetings, presentations, trainings, and occasionally an event from an allied organization.
Our leaders are Sierra Club volunteers, who have been certified to ensure the safety of participants and protection of our environment. They have a passion for the outdoors and a willingness to share their expertise with others.
We welcome Sierra Club members and non-members to participate. Unless otherwise stated, outings are free and open to the public. If you are interested in Sierra Club Membership, please click HERE.

This Meetup includes outings in Western Washington from Canada to Chehalis, including the Olympic Peninsula.

Saturday, July 26, 20252:00 Orcas - Life in Black and White film screening at The Clyde Theater, Langley
4:00 Hike at Putney Woods or Saratoga Woods
6:00 Dinner at a restaurant in Langley (TBD)
The Clyde Theater in Langley will host a showing of Orca - Life in Black and White, by local filmmaker and marine biologist Florian Graner. Graner spent years collecting incredible images of orcas from around the world, focusing on two coexisting orca cultures right here in the Salish Sea. If you love orcas and the natural world, or enjoy stories of intimacy, family, and community, this movie is for you!. There will be a Q&A with the filmmaker after the show.
General Admission - $10, ages 7-16 - $8, free for 6 and under at the door. Proceeds will be split between Florian Graner and Whidbey Watershed Stewards.Hike
After the movie, we will hike in Putney Woods or Saratoga Woods. Putney Woods has minimal elevation gain, while Saratoga Woods is considered moderate. Both are approximately two hours.Dinner
We will finish with a meal at one of Langley’s great restaurants - location TBD based on the preferences of the group.There are options for non-car attendance; please register to get details!!

Join us for a beginner friendly car camping trip at Larrabee State Park! We have a group site reserved the second weekend of August! We will be using our group site as a base camp. Additional details on specific hikes and itinerary will be provided at a later date. We will go over camping essentials, have optional day hikes and spend the evening under the stars and connecting around the campfire. This is a great opportunity if you missed the window for reserving campsites, as they often must be reserved well in advance! We welcome everyone, especially first timers that are interested in trying something new! Celebrate National Public Lands Day with a lovely hike close to home. At 8.8 miles and 2270 feet of elevation gain, this will be a workout, so bring your Discover Pass, make a new friend, and enjoy our beautiful Washington public lands.
