Hike to Mount Hillyer (6203')
Details
Join us for a beautiful fall hike to Mount Hillyer, 6.5 miles with 1,300' elevation gain. We'll travel through the best of the Chilao-Horse Flats area, passing gigantic boulder formations as we ascend through stands of pine and incense cedar to the summit. There we'll enjoy spectacular views of Mount Wilson, San Gabriel Peak, and Strawberry Peak to the west and Mount Pacifico to the north. Then we'll loop back down to the trailhead on the fire road.
Well behaved dogs are welcome. All dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length.
You don't need to be a Sierra Club member to attend this hike -- all are welcome.
Level: Moderate.
Bring: Sturdy footwear, hydration, snacks/lunch, clothing layers, sun protection, and your filled-out medical form to show the leader (see next paragraph).
Please be sure to fill out and bring this emergency medical form: https://tinyurl.com/ycy985mt Hike leader will check to see you've completed it, then you'll carry it with you in your pack. Filling out the form in advance saves everyone's time at the trailhead. Thanks!
