Hike to Mt. Islip from Crystal Lake (not for beginners)
Details
Starting near Crystal Lake, we'll hike up the well-defined Islip Ridge Trail all the way to Mt. Islip (8250'). We'll enjoy a lunch break at the summit while taking in stunning views of the LA basin, then return the way we came. Stats for the day will be ~10.5 miles with 2700' elevation gain. No pets please. If you have a service dog, contact hike leader in advance.
You don't need to be a Sierra Club member to attend this hike -- all are welcome.
Level: Moderately strenuous.
Bring: Sturdy footwear, hydration, snacks/lunch, clothing layers (e.g. jacket or windbreaker), sun protection, and your filled-out medical form to show the leader (see next paragraph).
Please be sure to fill out and bring this emergency medical form: https://tinyurl.com/ycy985mt Hike leader will check to see you've completed it, then you'll carry it with you in your pack. Filling out the form in advance saves everyone's time at the trailhead. Thanks!
Save even more time at the trailhead! RSVP on the Sierra Club website, sign the waiver, and provide your emergency contact info: https://act.sierraclub.org/events/details?formcampaignid=701Po00001FpR0DIAV

Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels the hike.
Signup Restrictions: If you are feeling sick or have been exposed to someone who has recently (within the past 10 days) been sick from or tested positive for COVID-19, please do not join this trip.
Carpools: Sierra Club will not assume responsibility for any carpool transportation risks. Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.
Alternate Driving Directions: Rather than meeting at the Monrovia Park and Ride at 7:30, you can meet us at 8:30 at the trailhead: From the 210 freeway headed east, take the Azusa Ave exit (exit 40) and head north for 24.1 miles. Turn right on North Crystal Lake Blvd. Less than 1 mile up, stop where a road turns left. If that road is blocked, park at the intersection. Otherwise, turn up that road and park in the first parking lot on your left.
